Domar rapport från Kerry specialen |
| We wish to thank everyone for their hospitality during our stay in Sweden. We are indebted to Angelica for bringing us to the show and collecting us from and dropping us to the Airport. Thanks to Lena for the excellent correspondence in organising my journey. CG was great in his role as Bodyguard. I was assisted greatly in the ring by my steward Anette and I hope that Jenny has recovered from her illness. And I hope that Charlotta didn’t exhaust herself trimming so many dogs The show was held at a lovely venue and I would also like to thank our hosts Lennart and Anki. Hugh and Angela Jordan. I found that the dogs in Sweden where of an exceptionally high standard. In most classes it was a fine line between some of the awards. Breed type was very evident, although very few dogs carried correct coat and colour. Some of the dogs with correct coat did not seem to carry the substance and quality of the heavier coated darker dogs and that was reflected in my placing of some of the winners. The correct coat could be achieved but I would worry about lowering the quality and substance of your present dogs’ .In my coat and colour class some of the exhibits I chose where in various stages of coat development and I am sure they will on maturity clear to a correct colour. For me colour is a matter of personal choice and I have no preference as to whatever shade of blue. The presentation, trimming and handling was of the highest standard that I have ever seen. Most of the dogs where more intent on their handlers and ignored the other dogs. I wish I could train my dogs to do that. Attention would need to be given to ear settings as the proper setting gives a Kerry a keener more alert look. A few dogs would have gained higher placing if ear carriage was better .The female exhibit 42 would have been the closest to my ideal expression Length of tail did not worry me but I feel that some tails do need to be that bit more forward. A long tail may fall forward because of the weight but a curled tail is not a symptom of not docking. I think for me the female exhibit 55 would be my ideal, especially on the move when she held her tail just that little more forward. Movement was of a very good standard with only a few that moved to close and only one moving to wide. The puppies moved as puppies do and they should tighten with maturity. Temperament was very good with only one dog showing to much aggression and this spoiled an otherwise very good dog that could have been placed higher Best puppy showed himself to the highest advantage a super confident puppy. The eventual Best dog and Best bitch to me where both Best in Show but I only had one BIS placing. Both excelled in bred type and movement. A very Masculine dog and Feminine bitch. Only too often it is the other way round. So again I would like to thank all the exhibitors, a very hard working committee and our hosts at Marinelund for making my judging appointment so enjoyable but most of all for the invaluable learning opportunity that this gave me.
